Sensex rallies over 450 points; metal, realty gain

The Indian stock markets opened higher on Monday after strong jobs data in the US buoyed markets across the globe. The Nifty hit 8,400 level for the first time high in 11-months since August 2015.

The BSE Sensex opened 231.33 points up at 27,358, while NSE Nifty opened 90.15 points up at 8,413.35. At 11:33 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 27,591 up 448 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,450 up 126 points.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1.33% at 12,038, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.95% at 12,090.

ICICI Bank, NTPC, Tata Motors, L&T, Bharti Airtel and Hero MotoCorp are among the gainers, whereas Sunrise Asian, Jaiprakash Power Ventures, RattanIndia Power and United Spirits are losing sheen on BSE.

All the sectoral indices were trading in the green.  Some buying activity is seen in auto, realty, metal, FMCG, industrial, telecom, capital goods, banking, utilities, finance, power and oil&gas sectors are showing gainers on BSE.

Sensex off day's high, Nifty hovers around 8250; HDFC Bank drags

European stocks came under pressure at open, as a rebound seen in UK stocks following the Brexit vote lost steam and a renewed decline in oil prices weighed on sentiment.

The pan-European STOXX 600 opened 0.5 percent down, with all sectors falling into negative territory. London's FTSE index was off 0.3 percent around the open, while the UK's domestically focused FTSE 250 index was roughly flat. Meanwhile, the French CAC slipped 0.6 percent while the German DAX fell 0.4 percent.

The Sensex rose 152.53 points to 26892.92 and the Nifty gained 47.65 points at 8251.65. About 1515 shares have advanced against 890 declining shares on BSE.

LIVE STOCK MARKET UPDATE: NIFTY FUTURE TIPS

Drug firm Suven Life Sciences has been granted a patent from Europe and two product patents from Eurasia for a drug used in the treatment of neuro-degenerative diseases. 

In a BSE filing today, Suven Life said it has been granted "one product patent from Europe and two product patents from Eurasia corresponding to New Chemical Entities (NCEs) for treatment of disorders associated with neuro-degenerative diseases". The patents are valid through 2029, 2030 and 2031, respectively, the company added.

The market continued to hold its morning gains on the back of support from auto, pharma, IT and select banking & financial stocks. 

The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 123.63 points to 26648.18 and the Nifty advanced 45.10 points to 8172.95. 

The broader markets continued to outperform benchmarks as the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.9 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively. 

The Cabinet in its today's meeting has cleared mineral exploration policy and recommendations related to 7th pay commission.

Market rebounded in afternoon trade with the Nifty reclaiming 7600 level, led by technology, banks, auto, telecom and metals stocks. European markets also bounced back after weak opening; France's CAC and Germany's DAX climbed more than half a percent.

The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 124.26 points to 24798.10 and the 50-share NSE Nifty advanced 45.30 points to 7600.50. About 1307 shares advanced against 1104 declining shares on Bombay Stock Exchange.

INTRADAY STOCK FUTURE TIPS BY CAPITAL GROW

The market is still firm with support from bank, capital goods, metals and oil & gas stocks. The Sensex is up 145.41 points or 0.6 percent at 24827.89 and the Nifty is up 57.45 points or 0.8 percent at 7556.20.

Oil prices extended their gains in Asia today after key producers agreed to meet next month to discuss limiting output and stabilise a long-running price decline.Prices have rallied from near 13-year lows touched in February after Russia and Saudi Arabia mooted a meeting to freeze output.

News of the producers' meeting overshadowed a report showing a lower-than-expected build in US commercial crude inventories. A weaker dollar after the Fed decided against an interest rate increase yesterday also provided support to prices as it makes the commodity cheaper for clients using other currencies.

STOCK MARKET OPENED FLAT AHEAD OF EXPIRY| NIFTY FUTURE TRADING TIPS

The market has opened marginally lower ahead of expiry of January derivative contracts. The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 5.68 points to 24486.71 and the 50-share NSE Nifty declined 3.45 points to 7434.30. 

ICICI Bank, GAIL, Lupin, Adani Ports, NTPC, Power Grid Corporation, Cairn India and Vedanta were early gainers while losers were HDFC, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, L&T, Sun Pharma, Asian Paints, Coal India and NTPC. 

The Indian rupee opened lower by 10 paise at 68.15 per dollar today against previous close of 68.05. 

Power Grid Corporation of India soared 2.2% to Rs. 141.50 on BSE. The company reported standalone net profit of Rs. 1613.12 crore, registering growth of 31% yoy. The company’s revenue stood at Rs. 5406.58 crore, clocking 24.19% yoy.

The scrip opened at Rs. 141.6 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 142.35 and Rs. 140.6 respectively. So far 2343636(NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 72405.21 crore.

LIVE NIFTY SENSEX UPDATES:STOCK FUTURE TIPS TUESDAY

The S&P BSE Sensex made a smart recovery and rose nearly 100 points to reclaim its psychological mark of 25,000, after falling over 120 points in opening trade on Monday. 

Most Asian markets were under pressure ahead of the US Fed's two-day policy review starting Tuesday. The domestic market followed the suit in the early trade. However, buying in select heavyweights such as Infosys, Hindustan Unilever and Sun Pharma helped the benchmark indices cut losses as the session progressed.

The Nifty50 also reclaimed its crucial support level of 7,600,The Nifty50 was at 7640, down 40 points. It touched a high of 7,558.20 and a low of 7,643.30. Tata Steel -0.47 % (up 1.1 per cent), Maruti Suzuki 0.14 % (up 0.65 per cent), BHELBSE -0.81 % (up 0.63 per cent), and Infosys -0.77 % (up 0.30 per cent) were among the major Sensex gainers.

Sensex, Nifty open flat; Tata Motors, Infosys down 1%

The market has opened flat as the Sensex is up 17.51 points at 25886. The Nifty is up 14.60 points at 7871.15. About 456 shares have advanced, 119 shares declined, and 50 shares are unchanged. Dr Reddy's Labs, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Auto, NTPC and TCS are top gainers while Tata Motors, Vedanta, Infosys, Maruti and Hindalco are losers.

 Asian markets opened in green, following a rally on Wall Street last week as investors continue to look out for comments from central bankers on the trajectory of US monetary policy. Major US indices ended last week with gains of more than 3 percent. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 91 points, or 0.51 percent, higher at 17,824, the S&P 500 ended 8 points, or 0.38 percent, up at 2,089, while the Nasdaq was 31 points, or 0.62 percent, higher to finish at 5,105. 


The Indian rupee has opened with a marginal gain of 3 paise at 66.15 per dollar on Monday versus 66.18 Friday but it could not sustain early gains. The currency fell to 66.29 a dollar, down 11 paise.
