The S&P BSE Sensex made a smart recovery and rose nearly 100 points to reclaim its psychological mark of 25,000, after falling over 120 points in opening trade on Monday.
Most Asian markets were under pressure ahead of the US Fed's two-day policy review starting Tuesday. The domestic market followed the suit in the early trade. However, buying in select heavyweights such as Infosys, Hindustan Unilever and Sun Pharma helped the benchmark indices cut losses as the session progressed.
The Nifty50 also reclaimed its crucial support level of 7,600,The Nifty50 was at 7640, down 40 points. It touched a high of 7,558.20 and a low of 7,643.30. Tata Steel -0.47 % (up 1.1 per cent), Maruti Suzuki 0.14 % (up 0.65 per cent), BHELBSE -0.81 % (up 0.63 per cent), and Infosys -0.77 % (up 0.30 per cent) were among the major Sensex gainers.
