Happy Women's Day: Metal stocks surge 2.6%; SAIL top BSE metal gainer

Metal stocks rallied for the eight consecutive session on the back of surge in the base metal prices. The BSE Metal is trading up 2.6% or 190.88 points at 7,633 as against the previous close of 7,438.

SAIL rallied 9% to Rs.43.65 on BSE.  The scrip opened at Rs. 40 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 44.25 and Rs. 40 respectively. So far 8311455(NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 16542.75 crore.

Shares of NMDC, Jindal Steel, Vedanta and Hindalco were above 5% each.

NALCO jumped 4.5% to Rs.39.15 on BSE. The company is planning to invest around Rs. 900 crore in Kakrapar Atomic Power project to acquire 26% stake in the plant, according to reports.

INTRADAY STOCK TRADING TIPS TODAY: Metals shine

The market remained marginally higher in morning trade as investors are cautious ahead of RBI monetary policy. The Sensex rose 34.36 points to 26180.03 and the Nifty advanced 19.15 points to 7954.40. 

The broader markets continued to outperform benchmarks with the BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rising half a percent each. About two shares advanced for every share declining on the BSE. 

India's central bank RBI is likely to keep its policy rate unchanged today, following a big cut two months ago, and to sound cautious about the scope for more easing as it aims to meet its 2017 inflation target and braces for a US rate hike.
