Swinging Sensex settles flat; Nifty ekes out modest gains

The Indian equity market ended with modest gains on Tuesday amid a day of wild swings. The NSE Nifty was seen gyrating over 80 points while BSE Sensex swung 300 points between its intra-day highs and low.

Indices extended winning streak to fifth consecutive sessions on the back of a strong bounce back in the second half of the day.

Indices staged a smart come back despite multiple explosion at the Brussels Airport rocked sentiment.

Today’s recovery was led by the realty, power, capital goods, auto and utilities stocks. Even the Mid-Cap and Small-Caps also participated in the late recovery.

Defence stocks rallied after the new Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP), focusing on India-made products and fast-tracked acquisition process, was cleared by the top committee of the Defence Ministry on Monday.
