The market after
starting the day on a positive, Sensex today opened higher by around 100-odd
points at 28,100 and the NSE Nifty added 37 points at 8,472.
The market after
starting the day on a positive, soon slipped into the negative zone, on the
back of fresh selling in select sectors.
Following a near
400-point rally in the last two days, the BSE Sensex today opened higher by
around 100-odd points at 28,100 and the NSE Nifty added 37 points at 8,472.The
key benchmark indices touched a high at 28,116 and 8,477, but could not manage
to hold gains for a long and slipped into the negative zone.The BSE 30-shares
index dropped below 28,000-mark and hit a low at 27,981. Now, the BSE Sensex is
up 45 points at 28,066.
The NSE Nifty also
touched a low of 8,437 and is now quoted at 8,468 - up 15 points.
The broader market is
out-performing the CNX Nifty index, the Midcap and Smallcap indices have gained
over 0.5 percent each at 13,280 and 4,410, respectively.
Sectorwise, the CNX
Metal, Finance and Bank Nifty indices are slightly down at 2,312, 7,580 and
18,568, respectively.
On the other hand, CNX
Pharma and FMCG indices have gained 0.4 percent each at 12,310 and 20,166,
respectively.
